WSWHE BOCES hosts drug abuse forum

The Washington-Saratoga-Warren-Hamilton-Essex BOCES will host a community forum about prescription drug and heroin abuse and dependence.

The free event, “Hometown vs. Heroin and Addiction,” will take place from 4:30 to 8:30 p.m. Wednesday, Feb. 15, in the Building D Gym at the Southern Adirondack Education Center, 1051 Dix Avenue, Hudson Falls.

Participants will learn how to create change in their communities and also learn more about possible prevention and treatment options.

The forum will feature a panel of individuals to provide information and answer questions with representatives from the judicial system, health care industry, substance abuse treatment field, concerned parents, people in recovery as well as representatives from local agencies to provide resources.

The forum is divided into two parts. The public is invited to attend any part or all of the event.

4:30-5:30 p.m. Heroine/Opioid Overdose Prevention Training (Narcan Training): Each trained individual will receive an Intra-nasal Naloxone (Narcan) kit. Participants must reserve a spot for this portion of the training to ensure there are enough kits and certificates for participants. (746-3470 or kcarpenter@wswheboces.org).

6-8 p.m. Community Forum: Speaker and Master of Ceremonies, Washington County District Attorney Tony Jordan.

Refreshments will be provided.
