Ballston Spa students were honored in this year’s National PTA Reflections program. Designed to enhance arts education for students in preschool through grade 12, it encourage students to create works of art in the areas of dance choreography, film production, literature, musical composition, photography and the visual arts and then compete for recognition on a regional, state and national level.
Students recognized for their art at the regional level are Emma Jones and Fiona Hughes from the Wood Road Elementary School; Emma Mulrain from the Milton Terrace Elementary School; Hailie Evens and Kentaro (Ken) Tan from the Middle School; and Shoichiro (Shawn) Tan, Anya Sager, Jenna Gold-Wienk and John (Brit) Douglas from the High School.
This year, three entries from Ballston Spa Central School District have been selected by the Northeast region to advance to the state level in their respective categories, including:
Visual Art – Hailie Evens
Photography – Shoichiro (Shawn) Tan
Dance Choreography – Anya Sager
The artwork and projects will be judged at the state PTA level in March.
The theme for 2016-2017 is What’s Your Story? Nearly 20,000 students throughout the state participate.
