The Shenendehowa High School Musical Company will present Kopit and Yeston’s musical Phantom at 7 p.m. Thursday and Friday, March 9 and 10, and 2 and 7 p.m. on Saturday, March 11, in the High School East Auditorium, Route 146, Clifton Park.
Set in Paris around 1900, Phantom is a musical with a book and lyrics by Arthur Kopit and music by Maury Yeston (composer of the Broadway musicals Nine and Titanic). The show is based on the novel The Phantom of the Opera by Gaston Leroux. This adaptation follows the novel more closely than the more widely known Lloyd Webber version.
Tickets are $12 for adults and $10 for students/seniors. Reservations can be made at shenmusicalcompany.weebly.com or through Amelia Reynolds at reynamel@shenet.org.
Colin Gioia is playing the title role. More than 100 students are involved in the production, either in the cast, on crews or playing in the pit orchestra.
