Washington-Saratoga-Warren-Hamilton-Essex BOCES Enrichment Resource Center and the Skidmore College Office of Special Programs will host a recognition ceremony for 81 students who are featured in the “Talent Unlimited” journal at 6:30 p.m. Monday, May 1, in Palamountain Hall Auditorium at Skidmore.

The students who will be honored for their writing and artwork hail from 16 area school districts.

Following a reception and display of original artwork and written pieces the students will be addressed by Ryan Smithson, author of “Ghost of War: The True Story of a 19-year-old GI.” Along with Smithson, a sampling of writings will be read by student authors. The works chosen are published in a journal that will be presented to the students and their teachers a during the recognition ceremony.

These literary and art pieces are chosen through a juried process by eight experts in their related fields. While the journal must be limited in the number of pieces represented, many of the entries were complimented by the judges for their creativity.

Of the 250 visual works of art, 51 pieces were chosen for publication. One design was chosen to be the cover of the journal, and one cover design received honorable mention. In addition, 41 written works were chosen from 88 submissions.

Refreshments will be served.
