Career and Technical Education students at Myers Education Center will prepare 80 holiday food baskets for local families in need.

On Tuesday, Nov. 21, the students will work with the Saratoga Wilton Kiwanis Club to fill the baskets with food in what it calls “Operation Turkey.”

Key Cub students and Kiwanis volunteers will set up tables and food stations to create Thanksgiving baskets, which will be delivered by volunteers to families in need, seniors, shut-ins and area shelters. The effort is spearheaded by the Culinary Arts program. Exceptional Learners classes will also play an active role.

The Kiwanis Club is providing all the food needed to prepare a healthy Thanksgiving meal for six people. Environmental Conservation & Forestry students also sponsored a food drive and their donations will be included in the baskets.

“This year the project is particularly relevant since a number of the baskets will be going families of F. Donald Myers Education students,” said culinary instructor Maureen Clancy.
