CAPTAIN hosts conversation on mental health issues facing teens

CAPTAIN Community Human Service’s CAPteens will facilitate a community conversation in partnership with the Shenendehowa Central School District and the Clifton Park-Halfmoon Public Library to address mental health issues facing teenagers.

The event will be held at 6:30 p.m. on Wednesday, April 11, at the Clifton Park-Halfmoon Public Library, 475 Moe Road, Clifton Park.

The discussion is meant to offer awareness on topics such as identification of various mental health issues and reducing the stigma of mental health issues. Panelists are Dr. Michael S. Prezioso, director of Community Services and commissioner Saratoga County Department of Mental Health and Addiction Services, John Ritcher from the Mental Health Association of New York State, and Brianna Phillips, street outreach case manager at CAPTAIN CHS, who will share her personal experience.

There will be a Q&A session in which attendees can participate.

Information tables will be set up beginning at 5:30 p.m. to highlight multiple local service organizations that focus is on mental health.

CAPteens is a youth-driven, youth development program within CAPTAIN CHS aimed at involving local teens in community service, philanthropy and helping those in need. More information about CAPteens is available by calling Youth Development Manager Jessica Valcik at (518) 371-1185.
