The search for a new superintendent for the South Glens Falls Central School District has narrowed to two qualified candidates.
They are:
-Dr. Glen Huot, superintendent of Stamford Central School District
-Kristine Orr, assistant superintendent for curriculum and instruction at South Glens Falls Central School District
“The Board is using a very rigorous process on an accelerated schedule in search of the next South Glens Falls Superintendent,” said Board President William Elder said. “We have met with several impressive candidates and are pleased to announce our two finalists, Dr. Huot and Orr. The board engaged the community in the search process and have greatly appreciated their assistance. We listened and observed, and along the way gained some insights of our district through the eyes of others. Both candidates have extensive experience in education and educational administration, making them highly qualified and able to lead our district into the future.”
As part of the hiring process, both finalists will present their entrance plan to the public. Ms. Orr will present from 5 to 6 p.m. on Monday, April 23, and Dr. Huot will present from 5 to 6 p.m. Tuesday, April 24. Presentations will be held in the South High school auditorium.
All community members, parents, staff and students are invited to the presentations. Subsequently, the board will conduct final interviews.
“The South Glens Falls Board of Education is confident in their decision in moving forward with the two candidates. The Board of Education began the search process last November,” said WSWHE BOCES District Superintendent James Dexter who lead the board through the search. “The process included an online survey to obtain feedback from the community regarding the characteristics, skills and experience desired in the next school district leader; over 650 responses were received. The board conducted interviews and received feedback on both individuals from the three advisory committees. The Advisory Committees were comprised of members from the community, school staff, students, and parents. They provided in-depth feedback to the Board of Education. I was pleased with the professional and rigorous process that the board put in place. Lastly, the board and I are appreciative of the 36 individuals from across the community who participated in the advisory committees. The committees conducted their assigned tasks in a professional and thoughtful manner.”
