Voters in the Ballston Spa Central School District will vote on the 2015-2016 school budget, three Board of Election candidates and a handful of propositions. Here’s a breakdown:
Budget amount: $86,352,617
Spending change: 2.6 percent increase
Tax impact: Levy would increase a projected 3.1 percent; tax rate would increase 1.6 percent. The owner of a property worth an estimated $222,000 would pay $57 more in taxes a year.
Board election: Three incumbents on the Board of Education are seeking three-year terms: President Kevin Schaefer, and members Christine Richardson and Nancy Fodera. A Meet the Candidates Night will be held at 6:30 p.m. Monday in Ballston Spa High School.
Proposition I: The budget
Proposition II: May the district establish a tax stabilization reserve fund to address future decreases in tax revenue from the GlobalFoundries plant in Malta?
Proposition III: Can the district spend up to $866,000 to purchase 10 school buses and replace three vehicles?
Proposition IV: May the district collect and contribute $53,550 toward operating the Ballston Spa Public Library?
Proposition V: May the district contribute $28,000 to Ballston Area Recreation Commission to support operations, including Saturday school and summer programs?
