Friends and family of Deacon Martucci delivered a donation to the Saratoga County Animal Shelter on December 24th. The donations were collected throughout the area in memory of Deacon, a 16-year-old Burnt Hills – Ballston Lake student who lost his life in a car accident in August.

The Saratoga County Animal Shelter received a large donation of pet food, treats, pet toys, collars and leashes from the Deacon Martucci Dreams Foundation this holiday season.

The foundation, established to honor the memory of Deacon Martucci, a 16-year-old Burnt Hills-Ballston Lake student who died in August in a motor vehicle accident, collected donations at Glenville Veterinary Clinic, Ellms Family Farm in Ballston Spa and Burnt Hills Veterinary Hospital. The foundation also had the help of the Burnt Hills-Ballston Lake High School X Factor Club of which Martucci was a member.

Dozens of his classmates, friends and family gathered to deliver the donations to the shelter on Christmas Eve.

“Saratoga County is deeply grateful for the donations made in Deacon’s honor,” Board of Supervisors Chairman Ed Kinowski said. “Through this foundation, Deacon’s memory lives on. Because of this donation, we’ll be able to give extraordinary care to animals who await finding their forever family.”

Martucci’s family created Deacon’s Angel Trees to collect donations and support a cause the student was most passionate about – the local animal shelter.

“I am devastated by the loss of my amazing, kind, and brilliant son,” Sharon Martucci said. “He changed the world for so many people.  My only hope is that through his foundation he will continue to inspire his friends and future classmates to do their best in academics and athletics and be dedicated to community service.  Deacon had hoped to volunteer at the shelter, so I am incredibly grateful for the generous response to Deacon’s Angel Trees. I am honored that we could make such a great donation to the Saratoga County Animal Shelter in memory of Deacon’s birthday and the holiday season.”
