District decides principal’s fate

The embattled principal of Division Street Elementary School in Saratoga Springs will remain in the job, administrators will tell the public on Tuesday.

Principal Greer Miller has survived an independent firm’s review of her tenure amid a huge teacher exodus and concerns from parents, according to a memo from Superintendent Michael Piccirillo that is posted on the Division Street Elementary School PTA website (see below).

He will speak about the decision and announce the district has filled 10 open teaching positions at the elementary school at 7 p.m. Tuesday in rooms 221-223 of the Administration Building. The district needed to hire for the positions after much of the staff asked for transfers this spring, citing Miller’s abrasive leadership style. Miller is a tenured employee who earns $102,197 a year. Here is the Piccirillo’s memo:
