Shenendehowa schools are seeking to fill two vacant seats on its seven-member Board of Education.
Rick Mincher, the board’s former vice president, and Mary Wiggins, an eight-year veteran, stepped down at the end of June, citing personal reasons.
Mincher was reelected in May, while Wiggins faced reelection next year. She told board members she was resigning to address medical issues.
The Shenendehowa school board is accepting applications from district residents who wish to volunteer on the board. Applicants should immediately submit a letter of interest to the district clerk at 5 Chelsea Place, Clifton Park, NY 12065, or e-mail it to robioliv@shenet.org and wetmkath@shenet.org.
The district wants to interview prospective candidates at its Sept. 24 meeting and appoint two members to start on the board by Oct. 8, district spokeswoman Kelly DeFeciani said. The two new board members will serve until the next school board election in May 2014, when they would have to run for election if they wish to remain on the board.
