The Saratoga Springs Board of Education will hear a report about the Common Core curriculum at 7 p.m. Thursday in the Administration Building at 3 Blue Streak Blvd.
Douglas Silvernell, assistant superintendent of 21st century teaching and learning, Joseph Greco, director of K-12 math and science and technology integration, and Freya Mercer, director of K-12 humanities integration, will update parents, employees and others on Common Core academic standards in mathematics and English language arts/literacy. The Common Core curriculum outlines what a student should know and be able to do at the end of each grade. The standards have become a hot political issue in New York and beyond.
Members of the public are invited to email questions they have on the Common Core before the meeting to m_manny@saratogaschools.org. Any questions received will be answered during the presentation. Also on the agenda are several personnel and financial matters.
